ATLANTIC CITY - Four people were rescued early Friday morning after their 35-foot boat ran aground near Absecon Inlet, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The Tri-Sail reported at 2:43 a.m. Friday that the boat had beached, and a rescue helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City arrived and hoisted two of the men and took them to the Atlantic City station, the Coast Guard said. Meanwhile, a rescue swimmer waited on the boat until the helicopter returned for the other two men.
"The running lights were working and all the guys had life jackets and safety gear," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Tye Conklin, a rescue swimmer at Air Station Atlantic City. "There was a positive outcome because of all the safety gear they had aboard."
No injuries were reported.
