OCEAN CITY - The city officially reopened Sandcastle Park on Friday after replacing the pressure-treated wood with equipment made from recycled plastic.
Sandcastle Park on 34th Street is one of the island's most popular children's attractions.
The playground is made of the equivalent of nearly 100,000 plastic milk jugs and more than two tons of recycled steel.
The city also replaced the wooden posts recognizing the contributions of donors who built the original playground.
Meanwhile, the city finished upgrading the North Street playground as well.
