Ocean City was proclaimed the best beach in New Jersey for 2015 by the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium when they revealed the Top 10 beaches in the state at a press conference held at the Music Pier in Ocean City. Winning beaches were decided by a public vote between May 1 and June 19. Other local beaches in the top top 10 were Wildwood Crest, Wildwood, Sea Isle, North Wildwood and Brigantine. The public poll was open for voting from May to June and had over 7,000 participants this year.

The ceremony will take place 11 a.m.

Originally titled New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches, the annual public poll began in 2008 to encourage stewardship and pride for New Jersey’s beaches.

In 2013, after Hurricane Sandy devastated the Jersey Shore the previous year, the Sea Grant Consortium changed its format to honor beach images and memories instead of focus on rivalries. The contest returned in 2014 and in 2016, the title was changed to add more variety for voters.
