Jason Flood, the pilot severely injured in an Egg Harbor Township banner plane crash last year, finished first on the second day of the Wildwood AcroBlast aerobatics competition at Cape May County Airport.

He is now also first overall in the intermediate category after a third-place finish Friday. His performance today will determine his placement in the overall competition.

Flood, 21, of Franklin Township, Gloucester County, survived an Aug. 2 crash that left him with numerous broken bones, a crushed lower spine and a torn aorta. This weekend is his first competition after more than 10 months of recovery.
