A mother and her three children were evacuated from their Rio Grande home due to a fire Wednesday evening.

The Rio Grande, Green Creek and Erma fire departments extinguished the blaze at the property on the first block of Mimosa Drive at 5:02 p.m., according to Middle Township police.

Resident Amy Moody and her three children, ages 7, 13 and 16, were home at the time of the fire but were able to get out of the home, police said.

No injuries were reported and the American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter provided temporary housing for the family, police said,

The fire is under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshall’s Office and the Middle Township Police Departments Major Crimes Unit.
