Cumberland County officials said three intersections are being permanently converted to all-way stops during the next six weeks to improve safety for motorists.

Those new setups will be at Finley and Centerton roads and Centerton and Big Oak roads in Upper Deerfield Township, and Weymouth Road and North West Boulevard in Vineland.

The Cumberland County Board of Chosen Free-holders recently auth-orized the changes following a road-safety study by a team from Rutgers University.

"Rutgers' findings warranted the county moving forward at these three intersections," said Cum-berland County Freeholder Tony Surace, whose duties include overseeing public-safety issues. "We hope by implementing the all-way stops, those crossings will be safer for everyone."

The county will place electronic message boards warning motorists of the changes coming to the intersections.

The message boards will go up at the Upper Deerfield Township intersections on July 22 and at the Vineland intersection on Aug. 13.
