MILLVILLE – The school district and a sports drink company have reached agreement on a deal that will name the Millville High School varsity baseball field after its most famous player.

The field will be named after American League rookie of the year Mike Trout during an as-yet-to-scheduled rededication ceremony that Trout can hopefully attend, Superintendent of Schools David Gentile said.

The agreement also includes Bodyarmor Superdrink giving the school district $10,000 to finance upgrades to the varsity baseball field, he said. The laying of new sod in the infield is already underway, he said.

Bodyarmor will also film the work on the field and the rededication ceremony as part of the company’s promotional work, Gentile said.

Trout, who plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, signed on with Bodyarmor last fall. Other athletes who serve as spokespersons for the drink include National Football League players Lesean McCoy, Rob Gronkowski, Ray Rice and Jason Pierre-Paul.
