MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP — Two people are dead following a crash Sunday on Route 670.

State Police said Thomas Hughes, 34, of Cedarville in Lawrence Township, was traveling west on Route 670 near Route 47 when an eastbound car driven by Michelle Wolf, 30, of Port Norris in Commercial Township, crossed into his lane. The two cars collided, and both Hughes and Wolf were pronounced dead, Trooper Gene Hong said.

It was unclear why Wolf crossed into the westbound lane.

The road was closed for four hours Sunday while police investigated. Hong said relatives for both people have been notified.
