Two Vineland men were arrested Monday and charged in the invasion of an elderly woman’s house, police said.

Deondrae King, 30, of North Main Road, and Tyrone Taylor, 38, of West Chestnut Avenue, were arrested by the Vineland Police Burglary Unit in connection with a Temple Road home invasion that took place May 29, Capt. Rudy Beu and Lt. Alan Pagnini said in a statement.

Detectives Rich Burke, Angel Mercano and Kevin Vai located the car the suspects were using that day and conducted surveillance of King and Taylor, police said. They soon discovered the two men were attempting another home invasion in the area of Sherman Avenue and Wendy Lane, police said.

“As detectives were moving in, King entered a residence from the rear of the house while Taylor remained as the driver of the car,” Beu and Pagnini said. “When King encountered the homeowner inside the residence, King advised he was looking for his lost dog.”

The homeowner was unharmed during the incident, police said.

King, who allegedly was found in possession of Mace and a stun gun when arrested, was charged with robbery, burglary, criminal restraint and aggravated assault. His bail was set at $250,000 for the Temple Road incident. Taylor was charged with burglary, and his bail was set at $75,000. Both were taken to the Cumberland County jail.

Additional charges are pending, police said.
