TRENTON — Prosecutors cannot use someone’s silence during a drunken-driving arrest against them in court, even if they had not been read their Miranda rights, the state Supreme Court has ruled.

In a 5-0 decision released Wednesday, the court found Manaf Stas was wrongly found not to be a credible witness and convicted of allowing an acquaintance to drive his sister’s car drunk.
