BRIDGETON- A Delaware woman was identified as a victim of what police say may be a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night.

Bernadette Montgomery, 54, of New Castle, was pronounced dead at the scene when police found her lying on the road at McCormick Place, between Orange and Bank streets.

She was found lying partially on the curb and partially on the roadway, with injuries indicating she was run over, police said.

Using cameras of businesses nearby, police were able to contact about six drivers that passed by -- including trucks, passenger vehicles and public transit buses.

The autopsy is scheduled for Friday, at which time police will be able to determine a cause of death.
