HOUSE

Republican Budget Demand: Members passed, 253-167, a Republican bill demanding that President Obama, in his soon-to-be-released budget for fiscal 2014 and later years, specifies when he will balance the federal budget and his policies for doing so. A yes vote was to send HR 444 to the Senate.

Frank LoBiondo, R-2: YES

Jon Runyan, R-3: YES

Democrats' Budget Plan: Members defeated, 194-229, a Democratic bid to replace HR 444 (above) with a plan to avert deep across-the-board cuts in military and domestic spending due to occur between 2013-2021 in the process known as sequestration. A yes vote was to lower annual deficits by means of revenue hikes that spare the middle class and targeted spending cuts.

LoBiondo: NO

Runyan: NO

SENATE

Violence Against Women: Senators voted, 85-8, to debate a bill to renew the Violence Against Women Act through fiscal 2016. A yes vote was to take up a bill (S 47) that adds protections for gay partners and spouses and gives tribal courts more power to protect Native American women.

Robert Menendez, D: YES

Frank Lautenberg, D: YES

Republican Anti-Violence Bill: Senators defeated, 34-65, a GOP substitute for S 47 (above) that differed, in part, by denying expanded jurisdiction for tribal courts, providing fewer protections for illegal immigrants, setting mandatory minimum sentences and imposing tighter fiscal controls.

Menendez: NO

Lautenberg: NO
