The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday released estimates of county and state populations and racial and ethnic breakdowns as of July 1,
2009. This chart shows population changes from 2000 to 2009 for area counties and the state, as well as 2009 estimates by race and
Hispanic ethnicity. The numbers are the last population estimates of this type to be provided by the census before 2010 Census counts
are released in 2011. The Census Bureau uses the numbers of births, deaths, international immigrants and people moving domestically
to generate the estimates.
