The annual inspection Route 72 bridge that were scheduled for Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 have been postponed.
Department of Transportation spokesman Joseph Dee stated in an email that the agency decided to postpone the inspections for several weeks to improve eastbound access on the bridge during the post-hurricane period.
A new schedule for the inspection will be announced, Dee stated.
The bridge was inspected after the hurricane and no storm damage was found, Dee stated. the postponement of the annual inspection poses no safety risks whatsoever to motorists, Dee stated.
