The Long Beach Island Joint Emergency Operations Center is allowing New Jersey licensed plumbers, electricians, registered builders and home-caretaking companies to come on the island Tuesday, Long Beach Township police Chief Michael Bradley said.

Contractors will be permited on the island to secure and winterize homes and shut off utilities. No building of any kind will be allowed.

Bradley said all contractors are required to have valid work orders from homeowners when coming to the island Tuesday. Soliciting for work at homes will not be permitted, Bradley said.

Homeowners have been asked to contact contractors to be sure they have proper documentation.

All contractors that will be working within the Joint Emergency Operation towns, including Long Beach Township, Ship Bottom, Harvey Cedars and Barnegat Light, are to report to the Long Beach Township Municipal Complex, where they will be registered and issued contractor’s passes.
