Members of the Mystic Island Volunteer Fire Company on Saturday assisted the Marine Mammal Stranding Center out of Brigantine in releasing a 40-pound seal that had come into the stranding center’s care after it was attacked by a shark.

Bob Schoelkopf, founding director of the stranding center, would not disclose the location of the seal release to avoid putting it back in danger.
