The sentencing of 51-year-old Walter Domanski Jr. of Ship Bottom has been delayed for a fifth time, a spokeswoman for the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday morning.

In June, Domanski pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated sexual assault on a minor and attempted endangering the welfare of a minor. Bergen County authorities arrested Domanski in Dec. 3 after they said he drove to the county to have sex with a six-year-old child.

Spokeswoman Maureen Parenta said the latest delay in Domanski's sentencing came at the request of his attorney for an adjourment due to a family emergency. Parenta said adjournments like these are usually granted under these circumstances.

Domanski was initially scheduled to be sentenced July 15 in Bergen County Superior Court. His first sentencing was delayed to Aug. 19, postponed to Sept. 16, and cancelled again Oct. 7. The new sentencing date is scheduled for Oct. 28, Parenta said.

Domanski was well-known in the Long Beach Island community as the director of the nonprofit Exercise Tiger National Foundation, that commemrates a World War II training exercise each year in Barnegat Light. Domanski also worked as an ocean lifeguard on LBI and served as a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary officer.
