SOMERS POINT — Police located and arrested a man who eluded officers during a high speed car chase earlier this month, during which he allegedly discarded a fully-loaded 9 mm handgun and drugs from his moving vehicle.
Somers Point Police Chief Michael Boyd said the high-speed chase occurred Feb. 4 after police were called to a Somers Point residence on the 600 block of West Maryland Avenue in response to a domestic violence complaint.
When they arrived, 21-year-old Rashad Alston of Pleasantville allegedly got in his car and sped away.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and on Monday, Somers Point Police, with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task and the U.S. Marshals, located and arrested him.
Boyd said the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office also had an arrest warrant out for Alston.
He was charged with multiple weapons offenses, terrorist threats and simple assault resulting from a domestic violence complaint and was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility on a $750,000 cash bail, where he currently remains.
