STAFFORD – A man was arrested for allegedly falling asleep in a McDonald’s drive-through while drunk.

At 2 p.m. on May 9 police received a call from an employee who was trying to wake up Douglass Vandevelde, 42, of Barnegat

Vandevelde had just ordered food and was asked to pull ahead and wait for his food.

During the wait he fell asleep and employees were unable to wake him.

Police charged Vandevelde with driving while intoxicated and discovered several outstanding warrants in excess of $2,500. He was sent to Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.
