Absecon Lighthouse vandalized

Sometime between when the lighthouse closed at 4 p.m. on Friday and when it reopened on Saturday at 11 a.m., the sentence ‘you are beautiful’ was spray-painted on the lighthouse in black paint.

The Absecon Lighthouse was graffitied over the weekend, and police are looking for the vandals.

Sometime between when the lighthouse closed at 4 p.m. Friday and when it reopened Saturday at 11 a.m., the sentence “you are beautiful” was spray-painted on the lighthouse in black paint.

“It’s unfortunate that someone got onto the property and spray-painted the lighthouse, but it’s very fortunate that we have leaders in the city who responded immediately through the CRDA and their branch, the Atlantic City Special Improvement District, and the graffiti has been removed and new paint has been applied to the affected area,” said Jean Muchanic, executive director of the Absecon Lighthouse.

If you have any information regarding the incident, contact Atlantic City Police at 609-347-5780.
