Dezenhall, Mr. Mervin Benjamin, - Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away at home with family and friends on Tuesday November 29, 2016. He was 86 years old. Mervin was born in Camden, NJ and grew up in both Camden and Trenton, NJ. He lived, at various times, in Levittown, PA, Douglaston, NY and Cherry Hill, NJ. He attended Trenton High School, graduating in 1948. He was a proud graduate and honored alumnus of The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, graduating in 1953. He was a member of the AZO fraternity. Mervin had two careers, first as a Registered Pharmacist. He was a pioneer in the retail pharmacy industry, operating stores in Ridley Park, PA, Willingboro, NJ, and Bristol, PA. He worked along side his father Samuel in the stores, and then with his daughter Jill - the second of a three generation pharmacy family. He reinvented himself as the owner of The Closeout Group! Inc., at the beginning of the growth of the off price industry. The Closeout Group! expanded into many other avenues, opening complementary businesses in other industries, including Socks, Tools, and Stationery. In his early years, Mervin was a founding member of Temple Shalom in Levittown, PA. A philanthropist, in his later years, he supported the Cancer Foundation for Personal Appearance. Mervin was predeceased by the mother of his children, Ellen May Glickman. Mervin is survived by his wife Leanora Dezenhall, his brother Jacob Dezenhall, his sister Beverly Hersh, his daughters Jill Dezenhall, Amy Jaffe, and Beth Simons (Chuck), his son Keith Dezenhall (Susan),his step daughter Lee Michel (Fritz), step son Frank Rezza (Alicia), his cousin Joyce DeMesquita, his in-laws Bette and Michael Osborn, and his grandchildren; Michael and David Simons, Jesse and Dylan Jaffe, Stella and Cleo Michel, and Hayden and Maddie Rezza, as well as many other family members and friends. Interment Crescent Memorial Park, Pennsauken, NJ. Shiva will be observed at the Dezenhall home Thursday, Friday until sundown, and Sunday.
