(Whitey) Dickerson and Geneva (Tibbitt) Dickerson in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from P.S DuPont High School in 1943, then joined the navy in World War II, where he served in the Pacific as a machinist mate aboard LST 660. After his discharge he attended Severn Prep school in Maryland 1946-47, and then enrolled in the University of Delaware. After graduating from college with a business degree in 1951, he worked for the DuPont Company in Wilmington, first in telecommunications, then in surplus materials until his retirement in 1984. While in college, he met Marilyn Sharp, of Woodbury, New Jersey on a blind date for New Year's Eve 1948. They married in 1952 and were life partners until her passing in 2012. He and Marilyn settled in Elsmere, Delaware in 1955 with their only child Gail. They lived in that home until they moved to Galloway, New Jersey to live with their daughter and her family in 2007. Bill was known for his often caustic sense of humor, but also for his generous spirit. Despite the bluster on the outside, he always had his family's backs. He was an avid University of Delaware sports fan and had season football and basketball tickets until he moved to New Jersey. He was also quite a collector of pocket watches, marine chronometers and coins. Bill was predeceased by his parents and his wife, as well as, his sisters Jean Dickerson Brentlinger and Carolyn Dickerson Burton. My sincere sympathy to you and your dear love ones. May you find comfort in these words found at 1Cor. 1:3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. The comfort that we can get from God regarding our decease is that at John 5:28-29 talks about a resurrection hope on earth. So the resurrection tells us about Jehovah's love and undeserved kindness.
