Howell, Joanna Hruza, - 85, of Northfield, passed away at her home with her daughter by her side on Friday November 10, 2017. Raised in Port Norris, NJ, she was the daughter of Fred and Mary Hruza. A Millville Memorial High School graduate, she received an Associate's Degree from Cumberland County College. Joanna worked for several Insurance Companies in the Cumberland County area, the last being Prudential Insurance Company in Millville, NJ where she retired after 20 years as an associate manager in the Claim Processing Division and Personal Development. She and her husband traveled extensively to many Eastern and Southwestern European Countries during their retirement. Joanna was a member of the Absecon Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon there. She was also active at church in the Evergreens, the Circle group and in earlier years, the Bell Choir. She enjoyed being with family and friends, tending her rose garden, painting, playing piano and collecting antiques. She is preceded in her passing by her parents, her husband, Lt Col. George M. Howell, daughters, Valerie Scutti and Leslie Graves. She will be missed by her daughter Mary Beth Lancaster, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as two brothers, Leslie Hruza of Laurel Lake and John Hruza of Egg Harbor Township, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held at Absecon Presbyterian Church on Saturday November 18, 2017 at 11:00am. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00am until time of service. Interment will follow in the Absecon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
