McDonnel , Mary , - of Pismo Beach, CA (formerly of Linwood, N.J.) passed away peacefully at home, with her daughters, boyfriend and close friends by her side on February 22, 2017. Born in Charleston, WV, the youngest of five children born to Adolph R. and June Rosenthal. Her family moved to Linwood in 1971. Mary attended St. Joseph's Regional School in Somers Point and then graduated from Mainland Regional High School in 1977. After high school, Mary attended ACCC. She received her R.N. degree, and worked in several hospitals in Philadelphia before moving to Santa Barbara, CA. in 1986.Mary settled in Pismo Beach, California working in area hospitals and a surgery center. Her active life style allowed her to experience many adventures. Hiking, mountain climbing, rowing, kayaking, bike riding and traveling were some of her passions. The fearlessness with which she lived her lif e, the love and support of family and friends, her devotion to nursing and her faith in God were all there for her during her battle with cancer.Mary was predeceased by her twin infant daughters, Kathleen and Tiffany; her father Adolph R.; and brother Michael. She is survived by her daughters Molly and Tessa of CA; her step-children Joci, Sami and Brandon; her mother June; sisters Carol (Tim); Kathy (Tom); brother Bobby (Gail); sister-in-law Francina; and her boyfriend Thomas, who stood by her throughout her long battle with cancer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. A weekend celebration of Mary's life, which included a bike ride, a hike up Madonna Mountain (her favorite hike) and an ocean paddling, was followed by a memorial service Saturday March 18th at the New Life Church in Pismo Beach CA. On Saturday March 25th 5:00 pm a Mass will be held fo r Mary at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Linwood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society P.O. Dear McDonnel Family, I would like to extend my deep condolences to you during this sad time, please find comfort from the promised future of reuniting with our loved ones here on earth at John 5:28,29 “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his [Jesus’] voice and come out”. Revelation 21:4 describes all our pain and sorrow even death will be gone.
