McGowan, Charles J., - 66, of Absecon, NJ, loving husband of Kathy (nee Bradley,) passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. "Chuck" was born on November 18, 1950 in Atlantic City, NJ. He grew up in Absecon and graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1969. Chuck was a retired electrician and a proud member of IBEW Local 351. A talented musician, Chuck played keyboards in numerous bands including Padded Cell, Madge and Fortune. While he loved playing rock and roll, he especially enjoyed listening to the Blues. He was an avid sailor and he and Kathy spent many months traveling the East coast, Florida Keys and several islands in the Bahamas on their sailboat, Sheet Music. A member of Atlantic County Harley Owners Group, Chuck loved riding his Harley Davidson Softail Custom and while attending the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota, he passed of a massive heart attack. He was happiest bragging about his children and grandchildren; making hundreds of Christmas cookies with his grandsons each year; and spending time with Kathy, his wife and soulmate of nearly 36 years. Chuck touched the lives of everyone he met. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Chuck is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Patricia McGowan. Chuck will be sorely missed by many and leaves behind his treasured and broken-hearted wife Kathy; sister Doreen Langer of Naples, FL; brother Patrick McGowan, of Absecon; daughter Sandi (Lee) Greco of Mays Landing; sons Joe McGowan of Mays Landing and Ryan (Catherine) McGowan of Absecon; and former daughter-in-law, Eva McGowan; grandsons Jimmy Guenther (Kimmy Cooper); Chase Guenther, Dylan Guenther (Beth Raymer); Jesse Guenther, Anthony Greco, Perry Greco, Nick McGowan, Jeremy McGowan and granddaughter Molly McGowan as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Frances, Beau and Dylan Guenther. He was looking forward to the arrival of another grandson in October. Arrangements are entrusted to Wimberg Funeral Home of Galloway. Please visit their website at wimbergfuneralhome.com or check The Press later this week for service information.
