PERNA, ANGELO PETER JR. - age 79, of Atlantic City, NJ passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, September 19, 2016. Born May 2, 1937, in Phila., PA he lived and worked in different areas before graduating from BOK Vocational Tech in 1955. As a young man he served for 8 years in the Air National Guard at Willow Grove AF Base, retired from Kulicke & Soffa in 1998 after 32 years of service. After retirement, Angelo found joy in volunteering and giving back to his community. He volunteered at the Red Cross Shelter at the Pleasantville High School for 5 days during Hurricane Sandy. Angelo also volunteered at Shore Medical Center. He also volunteered at Saint James Church as the cook for their Bingo events. Angelo was a member of the Ventnor Senior Center Council, organizing social events for the seniors. His favorite "task" at the Ventnor Senior Center was to call bingo. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years. Lucille Farley Perna; his children, Kenneth Perna, Angela Perna Dattilo, Nick Perna, and Suzanne Perna Fisher; his siblings, Philip Perna and Diane Mendel; his grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan, Roman, Jadyn, Ian, Bryce, and Bella Luna; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His parents. Angelo Perna Sr. and Mary Binanti Perna. preceded him in death. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, on Friday 11am at the Holy Trinity Parish/St. James Church, 6415 Atlantic Ave., in Ventnor. A viewing will be held at the church beginning at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a donation to the American Cancer Society. Please make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. Dearest Lucy and family: I never read the obits but today somehow I decided to look. I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am to see this. When I worked at Shore, Angelo and Lucy saved me weekly from drowning in my work and I will never forget that. I felt so close to you both and I'm sad to read this. God be with you and your family Lucy, I will never forget him
