Rudnick, Samuel Nicholas, - Sam finished his life's journey on April 2, 2017. He was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on December 12, 1934. The journey he traveled took him from his hometown of Margate City, New Jersey, to the military (USN, 1951-1955). After his tour of duty, at the age of 21, he was fortunate to meet Elizabeth Jean Gilbert, also age 21, in Atlantic City while she was on vacation from Michigan on June 21st, 1956. He chose to follow her to Michigan instead of his original destination of California. They were married on June 21, 1958. She predeceased him on April 6, 2013.Together they raised 4 children, Cheryl (Kevin), Laurie (Paul), Lisa, and Tom (Melanie). From these 4 children 8 grandchildren were born (Paul, Hannah, Madeline, Jack, Lucy, Joe, Kaley, and Jeremy) who all became the joy of both Sam's and Elizabeth's life. Because of Elizabeth's love of travel they took man y trips to many places throughout the United States, (including Alaska and Hawaii), Europe, Mexico, and various Caribbean islands. He always the believed the best gift you can give is your time, especially to family, others in need, and the community. He demonstrated this by being involved in many organizations and helping others throughout his journey. Instead of any remembrance, gifts, or flowers, donate your time in his memory to the worthy cause you care about. Although if you feel a donation is fitting, please give to charity of your choice, or consider one of Sam's personal favorites, N.E.W. Life Center (stluke.newlife.com) or the Humane Society of Genesee County (genesseehumane.org) In addition to being predeceased by his wife he was also predeceased by his brothers Peter, Charlie, and Joe as well as his sisters Mary and Louise. He is survived by his sister Rose P rice of Johnson City, NY, his sister-in-law Margie Rudnick of Pleasantville, NJ, and many beloved nieces and nephews. There was a visitation at Rossell Funeral Home on Friday, April 14th from 7-9 pm. Per Sam's request, in lieu of a funeral service or memorial, a celebration of life party will be held on Saturday, June 3rd. (Time and venue to be announced).
