Savard, Esther C. (nee, Leseman), - 90, of Egg Harbor City, passed away at home surrounded by her daughter, niece and friends on Monday, November 28, 2016 after a short illness. She was born in Egg Harbor City, completed her education and returned here after her retirement. Esther was the beloved wife of Robert F. Savard (deceased 2010) and beloved mother of Robert J. Savard (deceased 2001). Esther started her career during WWII at Singer Manufacturing where she was a draftsman, drawing military airplanes. After raising her family, she returned to working in 1966 at IBM Federal Systems in Owego, NY as a designer draftsman. She retired from IBM in 1983 and returned to Egg Harbor City. Esther was especially proud of working as a woman in a man's world. She spent many years caring for her disabled husband and sick son who died of "Alpha One" Anti-trypsen Enzyme Deficiency. One of her life's goals was to inform others of this inherited disease which is somewhat common in people of Northern European descent. She loved the Jersey shore since her teenage years and learned to "body surf". Our family and friends always met at the Somerset Ave Beach in Ventnor. She caught the "Philly's Fever" from her sister Dolores and got great enjoyment from watching the games. She was a voracious reader who always had a book going. Politics and religion were frequent topics at her dinner table. Esther was predeceased by all her siblings, Mildred, Edna, Arthur, Helen, Delores and Harold. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne (Richard) Schrick; granddaughter, Meghan Marie (Chad) Orians and Genevieve Claire Schrick and great grandsons, Andrew, Thomas and Henry Orians; and her sister-in-law, Ann Schieder Leseman. She loved her nephew, Robert Bartus and her nieces, Luann (Robert) Inman and especially Mary Lou (Bartus) Bouchard and Stephen Bouchard, who were responsible for much of her care these last few years. Esther's family extends a special thank you to all her caregivers; Dr.Bolich and Holy Redeemer and especially Alice Wilson, David Desrosiers and Maureen Ward, her beloved caregiver. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 10:00 to 12:00 PM with the service starting at 12:00 PM at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Ave. Egg Harbor City 609-965-0357. My sincere sympathy to you and your dear love ones. May you find comfort in these words found at 1Cor. 1:3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. The comfort that we can get from God regarding our decease is that at John 5:28-29 talks about a resurrection hope on earth. So the resurrection tells us about Jehovah's love and undeserved kindness.
