Sporkin, Cyrus, - 89, of Ventnor, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 16th 2017. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he graduated from Penn State University. Cyrus was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard and also the US Merchant Marines. In his early years he was an avid rower for the Fairmount Rowing Club on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Cy had a love for dogs and was a breeder of Old English Mastiffs for over 35 years. He began his professional career as a builder/developer in the Philadelphia area and eventually moved to Ventnor where he continued to build high quality custom homes until he retired. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Joan (Scullin) Sporkin; son, Jeffrey and wife Carolina; daughter, Eileen Zambetoglou and husband Tom; son, Joseph and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Katelyn, Samantha, Cole and Brooke; brother, Stanley Sporkin; and sister, Barbara Myers. Cyrus was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Ethel and his brother, Philip. A visitation will be held from 9-11am on Monday, May 22nd at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood. Followed by a graveside service and interment, 12:00pm at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.
