Turner, Walter J. "Murph", - 62, of Margate, passed away at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia on Sunday, October 16, 2016 after a brief illness. Born June 14, 1954 in Ventnor, he grew up in Margate, graduated from Holy Spirit High School and Glassboro State College, and worked as a bartender at Caesar's in Atlantic City since its opening in 1979 until retiring in 2013. He was known and loved by the many people who frequented the Toga Bar and Seven Star Club at Caesars and who remained his friends after retirement. He was also known for his devotion to his loved ones, especially his mother Elizabeth whom he cared for until her death.Survivors include his children, Laura and Ryan Turner; sister, Mary Ellen Turner; cousin, Marguerite Rocher; nephews, Michael and Kevin Hillegas; brother-in-law, Joseph Hillegas; and fianc‚, Kathy Hadenwald. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter F. and Elizabeth Turner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Catholic Charities, 9 North Georgia Ave. Atlantic City, NJ 08401.Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22nd from 10am-12pm, with a service beginning at 12pm, at George H Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood, NJ 08221. Burial will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.
