Walker, Tonya Lynn, - 55, of Atlantic City, passed away on June 14th, 2017. She was born on November 14th, 1961 to Martha Virginia Cornish-Walker and the late Frederick L. Walker, Sr. in Atlantic City, NJ. Tonya attended the local public school system and graduated high school in 1981. As a woman who loved the Lord, Tonya was a member of Second Baptist Church of Atlantic City, NJ. She spent her career as an Office Operator for an Atlantic County Department in Atlantic City. Tonya loved work and faithfully did the Christmas Club at work every year and her family loved their presents that she earned through it. She loved being there for her family and always had time for her grandkids, always being a "neat freak" at home. She loved to eat and being at cookout gatherings and especially, buffets. She would take plate after plate and enjoy herself, never gaining a pound. Tonya kept in shape by roller-skating and walking. Just by putting her earbuds in and listening to anything from rap, soul, hip-hop and oldiesshe loved walking every morning. She even power-walked to work! Tonya was greatly loved and will truly be missed. She is predeceased by: her Father, Frederick L. Walker Sr.; her Brothers, Frederick "Pudd" Walker, Jr. and William "Little Joe" Walker and her Nephew, Qu'ran N. Willams. She leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memories: her Mother, Martha Virignia Cornish-Walker of Atlantic City, NJ; her Companion, Charles E. Peterson, Jr. of Atlantic City, NJ; her Daughter, Atiya L. Peterson of Atlantic City, NJ; her Sons, Shiheeb, Rasheed and Hakeem Peterson, all of Atlantic City, NJ; her Sisters, Juanita (Darwin), Nettie (Melvin), Martha A. and Tamara W. Walker, all of Atlantic City, NJ; her Brother, Darryl Walker of Mays Landing, NJ; her Five Grandchildren; her Best Friend, Gardenia Albright; her Cousin/Sidekick, Phyllis Mells ; her Special Friend, Mary Hilary; her Special Nephews, William Murphy and Brian Walker; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday ~ June 22nd, 2017 at Soldier's Home located at 1510 Adriatic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401.
