When an osprey chick senses danger, it may stand and spread it's wings to look bigger in an attempt to thwart the intruder, like natural science students that are ready to band it. Hans Toft, natural science teacher at Cape May County Technical High School, and a volunteer group of his students, ventured into the back-bay marshes between the high school and Stone Harbor, to count and band nested osprey chicks as part of the state's bird banding program.
