Business grants through federal aid funding: New Jersey has allocated $260 million of the $1.8 billion federal Community Development Block Grant program for small business grants of up to $50,000 per business. To be eligible, a business must have suffered damage of at least $5,000 and have applied for a disaster-related loan through the U.S. Small Business Administration. Before a final grant decision can be made, the business must have already received a decision on their SBA loan.

Rebuilding grants through New Jersey’s CDBG disaster recovery program: New Jersey will spend a third of its $1.8 billion share on grants of up to $150,000 to qualified homeowners to bridge gaps between insurance payouts and how much it will cost to rebuild and raise storm-damaged houses. The Department of Community Affairs, which is in charge of the program, still is finalizing program details and will announce the application process within a few weeks. All work paid for through the grants must be conducted through a state-approved contractor that the state will pay directly, however that list still is being developed.

Atlantic County Rental Fair: Atlantic County and the Department of Community Affairs will hold a rental housing fair  from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 17 at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
