TRENTON - A Mullica Township man joined the race this week for the governor's mansion.
Gary Stein admitted he was a long shot when he joined nine others who filed to run as independent candidates for governor. "It's a fantasy," he said Thursday evening. "No one is taken seriously."
Stein, a registered Republican who mounted a similar bid for U.S. Congress last year, said the nation needs options beyond Democrats and Republicans.
Stein, who runs the cleaning company Metro Clean with his wife, keeps a blog,
that is an outgrowth of his earlier campaign.
He called for closing the U.S.-Mexican border while aiding the people of Mexico fight official corruption there.
"My candidacy is just me, asking someone to sit down and talk about Mexico," he said. "Perhaps it takes a boycott or holding the remittances. Perhaps it takes tourists not going down there."
