GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — A township woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after a car accident Sunday evening that sent another woman to the hospital, police said.
Brooke Rollman, 36, of Galloway, was charged with DWI, assault by auto and other motor vehicle violations. She was processed and released pending a court date, according to reports.
Beverly Fineran, 55, of Galloway, suffered several injuries and was transported by Galloway Township Ambulance Squad to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division for treatment.
The accident occurred at 5:17 p.m. Nov. 5 at the intersection of South Pitney Road and East Jimmie Leeds Road.
Rollman was driving a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on Pitney Road toward the intersection when she struck the rear of a 2006 Mercedes Benz 350 driven by Fineran that was stopped at a red light.
The impact forced Fineran’s vehicle across the intersection and up onto the sidewalk. Rollman’s SUV then struck the traffic signal pole.
Both vehicles had to be towed. Traffic was delayed for about an hour while the accident was investigated and cleared.
Galloway Officer Jeremy Feliciano and Officer Patrick Neal of the Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit are investigating.
