Gov. Chris Christie and members of his cabinet are scheduled to appear in Brigantine at 11 a.m. Wednesday as part of Christie’s town hall meeting series, state and city officials say.

The public event will be held at the Brigantine Community Center and will be first come, first served. No bags are permitted, and all personal items are subject to search. Law-enforcement officers will be in attendance and will wand all attendees.

Following the meeting, a Christie Administration Mobile Cabinet will remain on site to meet with affected residents and answer questions related to the available Hurricane Sandy recovery housing and business assistance programs.

Assemblyman Chris Brown said that the governor's appearance in the shore town "goes a long way in treating people with the respect and dignity they deserve."

"People just want to move on with their lives, and deserve to be treated with respect so they can maintain their dignity during this difficult time," Brown said.

Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP to townhall.brigantine@gov.state.nj.us to ensure accommodations for seating. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
