Four previous challengers to U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo have endorsed Democrat Bill Hughes in his bid to unseat the incumbent 2nd District congressman, the Hughes campaign announced today.

Hughes was endorsed by Cassandra Shober, David Kurkowski, Viola Thomas-Hughes and Edward Janosik.

“These men and women campaigned with distinction and integrity for U.S. Congress,” Hughes said in a statement. “I am humbled to know they believe I have the experience and judgment necessary to carry on that tradition.”

Shober, who ran against LoBiondo in the 2012 election, said Hughes would be a strong champion for New Jersey in Congress.

“Bill stands up for pay equality and the needs of hardworking New Jerseyans and their families,” Shober said. “He will be a forceful advocate to address the needs of families here in South Jersey.”

Hughes is an attorney for the Atlantic City firm Cooper Levenson. He lives in Northfield.
