Flyers' future on display 22-year-old Richards leads Philadelphia's youth movement

VOORHEES - Joffrey Lupul had heard of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin before heading to the Eastern Conference. However, Mike Richards and Jeff Carter were new to him.

Pittsburgh's superstars, especially Crosby, were tagged to revamp an organization that was at the bottom of the conference.

They received so much hype before either played in an NHL game, it's amazing other teams were willing to play against the Penguins. But when Lupul came to the Flyers this season from Edmonton and Anaheim before that, he found players he didn't expect.

They aren't on the same level as Crosby and Malkin, but they aren't far off either. Lupul found Richards, a center, who got a big contract to lead Philadelphia into the future. And Carter, a hard-nosed offensive player who isn't afraid to mix it up. More
