Steven Bergamo, Vineland, Jr.

Bergamo advanced into the pre-quarterfinals with a 6-2 decision over Clifton's James Murdoch. Bergamo broke a 2-2 tie with an escape late in the second period, then added another escape and takedown in the third.

Bergamo dropped into the wrestlebacks with a 12-3, major decision defeat to Emerson Park-Ridge's Paco Robley. Robley led 9-3 before turning Bergamo in the final 10 seconds.


Pat D'Arcy, Holy Spirit, Jr.

D'Arcy, who finished third in the state last year, reached the quarterfinals by rallying for a 5-1 win over Avery Shay of Don Bosco Prep. D'Arcy trailed 1-0 before taking a 2-1 lead on a takedown with :58 left in regulation, then turned Shay for a three-point fall in the final 15 seconds.

Eric Pruszinski, Lower Cape May Regional, Jr.

Pruszinski secured a second-period pin in his preliminary match against Audubon's Bill Henry. Pruszinski trailed 2-0 after the first period, but rallied to tie it and used an double-arm bar to earn the victory at 2:59.

Pruszinski lost via technical fall to defending champion Nick Suriano, of Bergen Catholic, in the pre-quarterfinals. Suriano, who is now 76-0 in his career, earned a 15-0 victory in 4:02.


Chris D'Alfonso, Absegami, Jr.

D'Alfonso dropped a 5-0 decision to Cherokee's Alex Baider in the preliminary round. Baider scored a takedown in the first period and added an escape and takedown in the third en route to the win.


Bryan Brown, Southern Reg., Sr.

Brown fell into the wrestlebacks with a 10-1 major decision defeat against Christian Bassdino, of Hanover Park, in the prelims. Bassdino grabbed a 5-0 lead on a takedown and three-point near fall in the first period and maintained command.


Matt Wilhelm, Southern Reg., Jr.

Wilhelm suffered a 9-4 loss to Paulsboro's Ronnie Gentile in the pre-quarterfinals. Gentile recorded four takedowns in the bout, including two in the second period.

Thomas Poklikuha, Pinelands Regional, Jr.

Poklikuha earned an exciting, 8-4 decision over Bound Brook's Nicholas Accetta in the prelims. Poklikuha trailed 4-3 with 15 seconds left in the bout before putting Accetta on his back for a five-point move to pull out the victory.

Poklikuha dropped a 12-6 decision to St. Peter's Prep's Connor Burkett in the pre-quarterfinals. Burkett scored a takedown and three-point near fall in the first period to take control.

Chaz Bramble, Buena Regional, Jr.

Bramble came up short in the preliminaries, suffering a second-period pin against Bordentown's Justin McTamney. Bramble trailed 7-1 before McTamney ended the bout at 3:11.


Zach Wilhelm, Southern Reg., Sr.

Wilhelm turned in an impressive performance in the pre-quarterfinals with a second-period pin over Manny Dominguez, of North Bergen. Wilhelm led 2-0 after the first period, but turned and pinned Dominguez at 3:11.

Brandon Bower, Holy Spirit, Sr.

Bower dropped a 3-1 decision to Northern Highlands' Sean Kelly in the preliminaries. Kelly used a first-period takedown and second-period escape to grab a 3-0 lead. Bower's only point came on a third-period escape.

Jarred Hodges, St. Augustine, Jr.

Hodges suffered a heart-breaking, overtime loss to Roxbury's Craig Roumes in the prelims. The match was tied 2-2 through regulation and the first two overtimes. Roumes escaped with three seconds remaining in the ultimate tiebreaker.


Jack Clark, St. Augustine, Sr.

Clark made his tournament debut with a 14-5 major decision over Westfield's Nick Velez in the pre-quarterfinals. Clark, a former national prep champion in Maryland, registered six takedowns in the final two periods to pull away.

Nick Raconelli, Southern Reg., Sr.

Raconelli moved into the wrestlebacks with a 3-2 loss to South Plainfield's Inan Sikel in the prequartefinals. Sikel grabbed a 3-1 lead in the second period. Raconelli escape to close within a point, but came up short of a go-ahead takedown.


Joseph Cutugno, Atlantic City, Sr.

Cutugno advanced into the pre-quarterfinals with a 5-2 decision over Glen Rock's Chris Jacobson. Cutugno broke a scoreless tie with an escape and takedown in the second period and built a 5-0 lead with a third-period takedown.

Cutugno moved into the wrestlebacks after suffering a 28-second pin to Bound Brook's Joshua Ugaide.

James Ingersoll, Egg Harbor Township., Sr.

Ingersoll dropped a 12-4 major decision in the pre-quarterfinals to Howell's Joey Schultz. Schultz used a takedown and reversal to take a 4-1 lead in the first period and Ingersoll was unable to mount a comeback.


Gerardo Jorge, Southern Reg., Sr.

Jorge prevailed in double overtime in the prelims against Beaton's Nathan Bueno. Jorge broke a 3-3 tie with an escape in the second overtime, then rode out Bueno to clinch the win.

Jorge earned another double-overtime win in the pre-quarterfinals, this time topping Holy Cross' Kenny Long 4-3.

Kellen Whitney, Hammonton, Sr.

Whitney suffered a 3-2 loss in the pre-quarterfinals to Phillipsburg's Jake Kocsis. Whitney took a 2-0 lead on a takedown in the first period, but Kocsis scored the go-ahead points on an escape and takedown in the second.


Cooper Gallagher, Ocean City, Sr.

Gallagher notched a 3-0 decision over Vinny Mainiero, of St. Joseph-Montvale, in the pre-quarterfinals. Gallagher opened the scoring with a first-period takedown and added an escape in the second.

C.J. LaFragola, St. Joseph, Jr.

LaFragola advanced into the pre-quarterfinals with a 5-3 decision over Dean Helstowski, of St. Peter's Prep.

LaFragola dropped into the wrestlebacks with a 7-3 loss to Mendham's Sam Button. Button used an escape and takedown in the third period to take a 5-2 lead, then held off LaFragola's late charge.


Ed Shockley, Millville, Sr.

Shockley moved into the quarterfinals with a 3-2 decision over Jackson Memorial's Ken Bradley. Shockley broke a 2-2 tie with an escape with 1:30 left in regulation.

Cory Damiana, Lower Cape May Regional, Sr.

Damiana reached the pre-quarterfinals with a 12-6 decision over Bound Brook's Aaron Saavedra. Damiana snapped a 6-6 tie with a reversal and two-point near-fall in the second period to take control of the bout.

Damiana fell into the wrestlebacks after getting pinned in the second period by Christian Brothers Academy's Mike Oxley. After a scoreless first period, Oxley locked Damiana in a cradle for a pin 17 seconds into the second at 2:17.

Will Sanz, Absegami, Sr.

Sanz dropped into the wrestlebacks after losing by pin to Franklin's Ralph Nomandia. Nomandia charged to a 10-1 lead before ending the match at 3:21.


Jess Bauta, Southern Regional, Sr.

Bauta earned a match against defending champion Bryan Dobzanski, of Delsea Regional, by posting a 3-2 decision over East Brunswick's Michael Quintin.

Dobzanski, ranked No. 2 in the country, earned a first-period pin with a cradle.

Obi Kali, Millville, Sr.

Kali advanced in the preliminaries with a 1-0 decision over Brearly's Saverio Salcfas. Kali scored the only point of the bout on a second-period escape.

Kali earned another win in the pre-quarterfinals with a 6-2 overtime decision over Hamilton East's River Ulrich. Kali forced overtime with a takedown midway through the third period, then earned a takedown and two-point near fall in overtime.

Chris Henchy, Absegami, Sr.

Henchy continued his surprising season with a 2-1 decision in double overtime over Caldwell's Joseph Bongo. Henchy snapped a 1-1 deadlock by escaping in the second overtime period.

Henchy, a first-year wrestler, moved into the wrestlebacks after suffering a 35-second pin against Don Bosco Prep's Zack Chakonis.


Tom Lynd, St. Augustine, Jr.

Lynd dropped a tough, 4-2 decision to Camden's Andrew Stevens in overtime. Lynd led 2-1 before getting called for stalling with three seconds left in regulation. Stevens scored the winning points on a takedown with three seconds remaining in the first overtime.

Doug Flitcroft, Lower Cape May Regional, Sr.

Flitcroft dropped into the wrestlebacks with a 1-0 loss to Delaware Valley's Marek Tomanek. Tomanek's second-period escape was the difference in the match.
