Race review: By lap 35, Truex had moved all the way into the top 10 with his car that was the fastest during the first practice session last Friday. By lap 256, he moved into the top 5 and reached as high as second place.
He spent 420 of the 500 laps in the top 15 with an average running position of 10th place.
Truex dropped back to 14th after a pit stop on lap 420, and as he fought to work his way back up the No. 26 car of Jamie McMurray made contact with Truex's left front fender, forcing the No. 1 car to the pits. He came out in 22nd place, where he finished.
