Gettysburg College senior quarterback Matt Flynn (Mainland Regional) became the Centennial Conference's all-time leader in passing yards (7,271), second in total offense (8,307), and third in touchdown passes (54) and pass completions (530) in the Bullets' 59-14 win over Juniata College on Oct. 17. Flynn contributed to 265 yards on the ground and two touchdowns as the Bullets became the Division III leader in total offense for the third week in a row.
Charles Curcio (St. Joseph) has 28 receptions, 380 yards and four touchdowns. He is ranked second in the Centennial and 36th in the nation in all-purpose yards and moved up to seventh on the conference's career kickoff return yards list (1,446).
In Saturday's 38-28 loss to Dickinson College, Flynn rushed for 72 yards, including a touchdown, and passed for 195 yards to add to his single-season school records for passing yards (now at 2,259) and total offense (2,580 yards). Sean Beirne (Atlantic City) had three solo tackles and two assisted tackles.
Freshman Kevin Brown (Atlantic City) had a 7-yard touchdown run for The College of New Jersey in a 16-13 loss to Montclair State.
Rowan's Patrick Ruley (Atlantic City) and Steve Hague (Buena Regional) had five stops apiece as the Profs blanked Morrisville State College 67-0 on Oct. 17. Safety Mike Barone (Hammonton) forced a fumble.
Anthony Barone (Hammonton) made three catches for 76 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown, as the Profs defeated Buffalo State 57-7 on Saturday.
Sprint football: Sophomore Todd Busler (Atlantic City) threw for 90 yards and ran for 19 yards for the University of Pennsylvania in a 37-11 loss to Navy on Friday.
Field hockey: Rowan's Kate Hughes (Cumberland Regional) scored once as the Profs shut out Kean 6-0. Jenna Lombardo (Southern Regional) had an assist as the Profs shut out Catholic University 2-0 and goalie Lisa Apt (Oakcrest) made four saves for her fourth shut out. Lombardo also had an assist in Rowan's 7-0 win over Frostburg State.
Rugby: Henry Raab (Holy Spirit) scored a try in William Paterson's 35-0 shutout against rival Montclair to remain undefeated.
Women's crew: Jennifer Coyne (Holy Spirit) helped the University of Massachusetts earn a third-place finish in the varsity four at the Head of the Fish Regatta held in Saratoga, N.Y. on Sunday. Coyne also stroked the junior-varsity eight to a third-place finish.
Senior coxswain Krista Jensen (Oakcrest) led the Washington College women's rowing team to a sixth-place finish in 16 minutes, 20 seconds in the open club eight at the Head of the Schulykill regatta in Philadelphia. Sophomore Kelsie Jensen (Oakcrest) was the Shorewomen's coxswain in the women's collegiate four at the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston which finished 22nd in 21:18.
Men's crew: Philadelphia University's Kevin Perry (Mainland Regional) contributed to the Rams' ninth-place finish in the men's open four at the Head of the Schulykill regatta in 15:42. He also was involved in a 13th place finish in the men's open club eights race in 14:25.
Wrestling: The Gannon wrestling team has been ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II preseason East Regional rankings and Frank McGrath (St. Augustine Prep) is the region's top ranked heavyweight.
Women's soccer: Junior goalie Leandra Russo (Absegami) stopped two shots for Kean University in a 3-2 loss to Rowan University.
Men's soccer: Rowan's Randy Kohr (Ocean City) scored twice as Rowan University shut out New Jersey City 3-0. Midfielder Zach Zahrend (Ocean City) had an assist.
