OCEAN CITY - The Ocean City Barons, an amateur Premier Developmental League team, advanced to the third round of soccer's U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Real Maryland.
It was the second win in a row for the Barons over a professional United Soccer League-2 team. The Barons beat Crystal Palace Baltimore 3-0 in the first round of the tournament.
JT Noone scored the lone goal in the game on a penalty kick in the 108th minute after a handball in the box by a Real Maryland player.
Ocean City advances to face Major League Soccer's D.C. United at the Maryland Soccerplex in Germantown, Md., on Tuesday, June 30 at 7 p.m.
