Freshman Matthew Nelson of Barnegat High School continued to make a name for himself Saturday morning.
Nelson finished fourth in the Shore Conference Cross Country Championship at Bucks Mill Recreation Area in Colts Neck.
Nelson covered the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 3.58 seconds. Mike Mazzaccaro of Christian Brothers Academy won in 15:53.19.
The Southern Regional boys finished third in the team competition with 184 points. CBA won with 49 points. Matt Valeriani was Southern's top runner, finishing 10th in 16:37.
In the girls race, Corrie Gethard of Southern Regional was the top local runner. She finished 10th in 19:46.43.
Molly McNamara of Red Bank Catholic won in 18:42.44.
