Martin Truex Jr., 29, from Stafford Township, is in his fourth full season as a driver in NASCAR's Sprint Cup series.

Last race: Started first and finished a season-best fifth in the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 on Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Ariz.

Next race: Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla., on Sunday (2:30 p.m., ABC). SPEED will show practice on Friday at 11:30 a.m. and ESPN2 will show qualifying at 3 p.m. SPEED has Saturday's practice at 1:30 p.m. and ESPN2 will broadcast practice at 3 p.m.

2009 earnings: $4,631,120.

Point standings: Moved up three places into 23rd with 3,365 points.

Race review: Truex won the pole on Friday, his third of the 2009 season, after finding more speed during the qualifying session than he had during practice. His race was relatively uneventful and Truex sailed to his first top-five of the season.

It was a good day for Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing as teammate Juan Pablo Montoya finished eighth for his first top 10 at Phoenix.
