Eagles offensive lineman Winston Justice has made remarkable progress this season.
The team rewarded him for that improvement on Tuesday. Justice, the starting right tackle, signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2013 sesaon.
Justice, 26, was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. Up until a few months ago, there was absolutely no chance he would be staying with the team. In his first three seasons, he had fallen fall short of the lofty expectations that prompted the Eagles to take him in the second round of the 2006 draft.
His status changed during training camp. After struggling at left tackle and guard, he went to Lehigh University as the backup to Shawn Andrews at right tackle. Andrews' back troubles resurfaced just before the season began, however, and he was placed on the injured reserve list.
Justice became the starting right tackle and has flourished. Along with center Jamaal Jackson, he is the only Eagles' lineman to start all 10 games.
