Kathy Snyder got her 500th career win as Southern Regional High School's girls basketball coach Thursday night, beating Toms River East 60-29.

Kristen Sharkey and Avery Hodgson both had season-best performancs, scoring 27 and 20 points, respectively.

Snyder's career record is 500-259. She joins Rumson's George Sourlis as the only coaches in Shore Conference girls basketball history to reach the milestone. Snyder is in her 32nd season.

"I've put in a lot of hard work and surrounded myself with good people over the years," Snyder said in a telephone interview after the victory.

The Rams were admittedly a little nervous before the game, but Snyder was unfazed, saying, "I don't get caught up in all of this." She added that had her assistant coaches not kept track, she wouldn't have even known that she was approaching the milestone.
