Atlantic Christian girls win third straight national tournament

The Atlantic Christian girls basketball team won its third straight National Christian Schools Athletic Association Tournament championship, beating Christian Heritage School (Va.) 49-37 Saturday in the final in Erie, Pa. Kelsey Robinson led the Cougars with 19 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.

Also for Atlantic Christian, the top seed in the eight-team tournament, Dakota Hitchner added 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Jamie Zalman had nine points and four steals. Robinson, Zalman and Hitchner were each named to the all-tournament team.

"We played as a unit and peaked at the right time," said Atlantic Christian coach Pam Hitchner, Dakota's mother.
