Atlantic County Baseball League: Margate beats Hammonton 5-2 in battle of two unbeatens

The Margate Hurricanes came away victorious in a battle of two unbeatens with a 5-2 win over host Hammonton at Hammonton Lake Park.

Margate remained unbeaten at 4-0. Eric Fitzgerald broke the game open with a three-run shot in the second inning for the Hurricanes. Steve Schrenk posted three hits and Pat Goodwin contributed a double and an RBI. Joe Noyes earned the win on the mound with 11 strikeouts in five innings. Doug Hiltner struck out three in two innings of relief.

Hammonton’s Mike Crescenzo recorded a solo homerun and Nick Crescenzo added two hits. Matt Ingemi doubled. Trevor Rosenberg took the loss giving up five hits with 12 strikeouts.  Hammonton is 3-1.

Egg Harbor City 2, Egg Harbor Township 0: Josh Wagner earned a complete game shutout allowing three hits. He also struck out three as Egg Harbor City (1-3) earned its first win of the season. Nick Harring posted an RBI double and Frank Vitrano recorded three hits, two stolen bases and an RBI.

For Egg Harbor Township (0-4), Geo Contreas doubled.

 

Absecon 6, Wildwood 3: Chris Scarlett took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and struck out 13. Kenny Morgenweck went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Steve Hartley posted two hits and two runs scored. C.J. Wallowitch drove in a run with a double and scored twice. Absecon is 2-1.

Zack Phillipi and Tim Gallagher each singled and scored for Wildwood.
