The Atlantic Shore 14-year-old baseball team suffered its first loss in the Babe Ruth Middle Atlantic Regional tournament Sunday. The Devils lost 6-3 to South Shore, N.Y., in a Pool A game in Somers Point.

Atlantic Shore manager Joe Iannuzzelli said it was a well-played game by both sides but that the Devils were unable to generate enough runs.

"They outplayed us, bottom line," Iannuzelli said. "I can't say anything bad about (the Devils), though, even though we lost."

Matt Thomas had multiple hits for Atlantic Shore. Steven Myers doubled, drove in a run and pitched one scoreless inning. Kyle Gerace had a hit.

Atlantic Shore finishes pool play today with a 4 p.m. game against Clifton Park, N.Y., at Surf Stadium in Atlantic City.

Regardless of the outcome of today's game, Atlantic Shore is guaranteed a spot in Tuesday's quarterfinals. The top three teams in each pool will advance to the quarterfinals, with the top seeds getting byes to the semifinals.

Atlantic Shore is playing for the No. 2 or 3 seed in Pool A.
