Defending champion Barnegat Light is in the lead with 43 points after Friday's events at the first day of the 50th annual Long Beach Island Lifeguard Tournament on Hudson Avenue in Harvey Cedars.
Surf City is trailing Barnegat Light in second place with 41 points. Ship Bottom is third with 33 points and Harvey Cedars is fourth with 30 points.
The event ends today with nine races that will begin at 6 p.m.
